Faith is the Victory
Faith is the victory, and when life becomes difficult, Faith is the thing that will get us through. There are times when the challenges seem too big, too hard, and we feel unable to bear it all. We want to cry out, “God, this job is too big!”
Have you ever felt like giving up? Have you ever thought, “Lord, I never thought it would be this hard; it’s just too hard?” When life seems to overwhelm us; when battles seem to go on forever without resolution; when there is no sign of a breakthrough; it is then that we need our Faith! Faith is the victory, and with Faith will come victory.
Faith is victory, but it is not always easy, and at times we have all struggled with it. In John 21, the disciples were so down after Jesus went to the cross and was buried that even though he had appeared to them twice, Peter said, “I’m going fishing and a few others joined him.” After all, they had to get an income from somewhere. They went fishing and caught nothing; Jesus turned up on the shore (they didn’t know it was Him) and said to them, “Have you caught anything?” “No.” “Again, cast your net on the right side of the boat.” Immediately there were too many fish to pull in the net. John (the closest one to Jesus) realised it was Jesus. Jesus can show up when we least feel like it or expect it.
Then we have the discourse where Jesus asks Peter 3 times, “Do you love me?” Jesus was taken captive and taken to the High priests for questioning. Peter was selected and accused of being a follower. He denied it 3 times and went outside and the rooster crowed. Immediately he remembered what Jesus had said, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me 3 times.” He had said “I’ll never deny you!” Oh, the feeling of failure and shame. Being a follower of Jesus is not always easy, but Faith is the victory, and when the disciples were given the choice to go away, in John 6:68 “Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also, we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
When we are in the pit of despair and disillusionment, having done all there is that we know to do, there is not much else to do but say. “Lord I don’t understand, I may never understand, but this one thing I know, you have the words of eternal life. I will never turn from or stop from following after you.”
Psalm 37:3-5 “Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”
Faith is the victory. Make it yours!
