Warfare at the gates of your life
Your mind is the gateway to your life. The battle of life is won or lost by what you let into your mind. The enemy wants to storm the gate of your mind too! Jesus said, Matthew. 22: 37 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Your mind belongs to the Lord. Guard it well.
The gateway to a city is a vital intersection with traffic flowing in all directions, needing careful scanning. The same is true of your mind!
The enemy places obstacles in the gateway of your mind.
1. Wrong Choices.
You need to choose the right people to let into your lives. Avoid the people who will drag you off track and away from the Christian path. Choose people who will lift you up in your walk with God; athletes improve with challenges, and so do Christians.
2 Tim. 1:7 “God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” The devil will bring fear against you, to stop you from reaching your fulfillment or potential. If fear comes up, know it’s not from God and deal with it. The Bible says, “Perfect love cast out all fear.” God’s love is in me; therefore, I have his power. Secure in Gods’ love, you can deal with fear and not let it distract and paralyze you.
3. The Natural.
When Satan distracts you it’s always in the natural. The natural realm (our everyday thinking) stands in the way of believing the miracles of God. If you have cancer, in the natural, the expectations are not high. Yet God's word says, "By His stripes we are healed." He makes a way where there is no way.
4. Hesitation and Procrastination.
Hesitation and procrastination are the greatest enemies of Christians. When God makes a way we have to move forward; God always has a plan to get us to the other side as He did through the Red Sea, the River Jordan, and across the Lake for the disciples. Step out in faith!
5. Control (self).
A fear of being alone; desire for control; issues of trust – all of these things can make it difficult for us to hand control of our lives to the Lord. We think we trust God until he asks us to jump. Let go, and let God, as they say. Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
However, you have to be engaged with the enemy in order to protect the gates of your mind. You cannot be sitting on the sidelines hoping all will be okay! There is a gate into your life, and you let the traffic in and out; people, ideas, and innovations. Set a watch over your mind.
John 10 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. The enemy challenges you at the gate with wrong choices; fear; the natural; hesitation and procrastination, and control. This is a battle for your mind. Fight it! Win it; Live it with the Lord.
