What are you looking at?

Focus! In our Christian lives, we can get distracted and lose focus. Focus is essential for athletes, for horses ploughing, and for Christians.   That’s what Paul was saying in 2 Timothy. 4:6 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”When we are not focused on the things of the kingdom, the enemy will soon find something to distract us and turn our focus elsewhere. God needs us to stay focused in our Christian walk in order to maintain our Faith.

Faith : To remain focused we need a strong faith, but we have to fight for this as we are bombarded by media and falling standards in the world. Your faith in God’s word will keep you steadfast and immovable; it will get you through the struggles and trials of life. 1 Corinthians. 16:13 “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.”

Others: We need to keep a focus on helping others. Galatians. 6:10 “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season, we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” The Bible is full of servanthood. At the last supper, Jesus took the towel and washed His disciples’ feet. Jesus power was in his servant hood; do what is in the power of your hands to do!

Christ: If you continually make the Lord Jesus Christ the focus of your life as the King of kings and the Lord of lords, you won’t have distractions happening in your life, causing you to hit brick walls.Gal. 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”We need to remain focused on The Lord Jesus Christ.

Unity: We need to keep focused on unity with our brethren. Where people dwell with one heart, one soul and one spirit, there God commands a blessing. Acts 9:31 “Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.”What could happen in this church if we walked in that?

Sanctification: We need to practice sanctification in our lives. Sanctification means to make holy, to purify or be free from sin. 1 Thessolonians. 5:23 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”Jesus blood cleanses us and washes us free from our previous sins and we are sanctified by the blood of Jesus. Sanctified! What a blessing.

Faith, Others, Christ, Unity, and Sanctification. Focus! Let’s focus in on Jesus this week; the author of our faith. Let’s choose a lifestyle that’s going to echo in eternity, and focus firmly on Jesus as we live a life of holiness.
