Psalm 91: 1He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Many of us are feeling exhausted. There have been a lot of challenges this year! It’s been a year where we’ve walked by faith and not by sight because what we’ve believed, we just haven’t seen. We’ve prayed and believed for the breakthroughs, the signs and the wonders, but we haven’t seen them.
This year has been like mountain climbing; you feel as though you’ve been trudging uphill for a while. It’s hard work, and it’s so easy to want to sit down and just rest and forget about it. It’s easier to go back downhill than it is to go uphill. You wonder if it’s worth it.
But I believe God wants to encourage us today and say it is worth it! Keep going, keep going, and keep going. Even though the way may be uphill, keep going.
There is a humbling process going on in our lives right now. That’s why it’s been so hard. This move of God’s is towards an increased presence in our midst, which is what we’ve been seeking; however, this move will only come to those who will humble themselves. He wants to get us to the place where it’s all about Him and not about us.
This is preparation time, and it’s as though the enemy knows that; he’s trying to put us off spending time in the presence of God. He’s trying to make us so busy with other things that we don’t have time for God; we don’t have the desire. This time belongs to you and to God; don’t let it be stolen!
This is preparation time for what’s ahead; for ascending into the presence of God. This is the time to prepare our spiritual muscles.
Not everyone will choose to climb the mountain. Some will stay and picnic on level ground. Some will choose to climb the mountain and it’s much easier to make the climb with someone else to help you. We can’t do it alone. So of us will have to climb that mountain whether we want to or not. God is taking us to higher levels.
This humbling preparation is like the time we had lunch in Peru. Nobody mentioned that lunch was on top of the island! It was hard work climbing, but when we got there it was beautiful and well worth the climb. On the way up the hill, we passed locals, even children, climbing with loads on their back; they were used to it, and found the climb easy. Keep working towards God and it will get easier.
Psalm 91 14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
The result will be wondrous and well worth the effort!
